About Meghalaya Board of School Education

The Meghalaya Board of School of Education (MBOSE) was set up in the year 1973 under the Meghalaya Board of School Education Act, 1973. The board was formed so as to regulate, control and supervise matters related to School Education in the state of Meghalaya. At first the board only used to take care of the SSLC exams related matters, but after the Pre-University degree was discontinued by the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in 1996, the board has started conducting HSSLC exams as well in the state. It started working in its own office located in Araimike, Tura from 1974. The board has many affiliated schools that run according to the guidelines laid by the it. At present the board has around 1400 schools under its affiliation across the state.
